Trucking conditions are looking up, according to FRT’s Trucking Conditions Index. The main reason? Diesel prices are dropping, even though freight conditions are still a bit tough.
Even though we expect strong consumer demand during the holiday season to boost freight growth, there might be a short pause in new carriers starting up as many are waiting until the new year to kick things off.
In 2025, as freight rates begin to rise again, we should see the market stabilize, with older trucking companies in a better position to manage. However, newer operators—especially in big states like California and Texas—might face some challenges due to rising costs and higher turnover.
