NPTC Safety Article- September 2023 -International Roadcheck Inspections

Nearly one out of five commercial motor vehicles were placed out of service during the International Roadcheck commercial motor vehicle inspection and enforcement initiative conducted by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance last May.

During the three-day initiative, 59,429 commercial motor vehicles were inspected in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) 72-hour International Roadcheck inspection and enforcement initiative.

A total of 116,669 violations were identified throughout the effort, which included all driver and vehicle out-of-service violations and violations that were not out of service, combined.

By analyzing the results, we can underscore the importance of conducting a proper pre-trip inspection, to ensure both you and your equipment are road-ready.

Why a driver management solution is right for your fleet [Guide]

As the transportation landscape changes, companies are continually faced with decisions on how to efficiently move their product.

Whether between facilities, B2B, or B2C, 72 percent of U.S. consumer goods would not get where they need to be without trucks.

In today’s economy, the consumer expects speed and demands reliability. In turn, operations feel extra pressure to see their products through the entire supply chain cycle.

Many are turning to private fleets, but that’s not the only solution.

In this guide, you’ll find how outsourced driver management services can act as an extension of your private fleet, allowing you to maximize efficiency and cost savings.

3 reasons you should care about corporate citizenship reports

In today’s interconnected and socially conscious world, businesses are increasingly seeking out companies that align with their values and contribute to the greater good.

This growing demand for transparency and accountability has given rise to the importance of corporate citizenship reports. These reports provide you with crucial insights into our company’s social, environmental, and ethical performance, enabling you to make informed decisions about your business relationships.

Let’s explore why corporate citizenship reports are so important (and where to find ours).

1. Transparency and Accountability:

Your business wants to know that the companies they engage with are transparent and accountable for their actions. Corporate citizenship reports offer a comprehensive overview of a company’s social and environmental impact, including our efforts to address issues such as climate change, diversity and inclusion, labor practices, and community engagement.

By publishing these reports, we demonstrate their commitment to transparency and accountability, fostering trust and building stronger relationships with our clients.

2. Alignment with Values

Your operation may want to partner with companies that share your values and actively contribute to sustainable and ethical practices. Corporate citizenship reports highlight a company’s commitment to social responsibility, showcasing its initiatives, partnerships, and achievements.

By reviewing these reports, you can assess whether a company’s values align with your own, helping you make conscious decisions about the organizations you choose to support.

3. Risk Management

Corporate citizenship reports also play a vital role in assessing a company’s risk management practices. You may want to understand the potential risks associated with your business relationships, such as legal compliance issues, supply chain vulnerabilities, or reputational damage.

By reviewing a company’s sustainability efforts, clients can gain insights into its risk mitigation strategies, resilience to potential crises, and long-term viability. This information allows you to make informed decisions, minimizing risks to your own business operations.

Corporate citizenship reports are essential tools that enable you to assess a company’s social, environmental, and ethical performance.

How to view our corporate citizenship report

Every year, we publish our ESG & Corporate Citizenship Report (CCR) to show the world how what we do makes a difference in the lives of our employees, our clients, our associates, and the countries and communities we work in.

NPTC Safety Article- August 2023 -Brake Safety Week

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has scheduled this year’s Brake Safety Week for August 20-26 with a special focus on brake lining and pad issues may result in vehicle violations and could affect a motor carrier’s safety rating.

Why the focus on brakes now? According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, 32.7% of large trucks with pre-crash violations had brake problems. In addition, brake-related violations comprise the largest percentage of out-of-service vehicle violations.

During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors highlight the importance of brake systems by conducting inspections of their components and removing commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations from our roadways until those violations are corrected.

Q2 2023 Transportation Report

So far this year, declining freight numbers have had a huge impact on the transportation business as a whole. Q2 was a bit of a bumpy road with freight tonnage taking a big dip.

This decline had an obvious impact across the industry as operations saw their first real slowdown in years.

But it seems to be making a recovery as we closed out Q2 and head into Q3.
